If your IR lamps are sluggish when you start up, or if they take too long to hit the right temperature, you’re going to see it in the bottles. You’ll get those annoying cold spots or walls that are way too thin in some places and thick in others. It’s a headache nobody wants. The trick to fast response To keep up with the rhythm of a SACMI machine, we have to fight “thermal inertia.” Basically, we want the heat to go into the plastic, not get trapped in the lamp. We use a specific kind of high-grade quartz glass. The walls are just the right thickness so the IR radiation shoots straight through to the PET. We also tweaked the filament diameter and voltage.
