
Stop Wasting Bottles on Your SACMI Startup
If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know the drill. Everything happens fast. Your PET preforms have a tiny window of a few seconds to hit the exact temperature they need. If your lamps are sluggish when you flip the switch, or if they take too long to hit full power, you’re in trouble. You end up with uneven walls or, worse, bottles that just burst. It’s frustrating, and it’s a waste of material. That’s why we built our infrared lamps to kill that lag.
Getting Up to Speed, Fast
The secret is in the guts of the lamp—the filament and the gas fill. We use high-density tungsten and a very specific halogen cycle. What does that actually mean for you? It means the lamp hits operating temperature almost the second you turn it on. When these are wired into your SACMI circuit, the oven reaches its target heat way faster. You’ll notice it most during machine startups and shift changes. Less waiting around, and way less scrap hitting the bin.
The Nitty-Gritty on Fit and Feel
We didn’t want you messing around with adapters. These are drop-in replacements designed for the SACMI footprint. We’ve balanced the wattage and length so the heat hits exactly where the preform needs it. Plus, we use high-grade quartz glass. This ensures the short-wave radiation actually sinks into the PET material instead of just heating up the air around it. And because loose connections are a nightmare—leading to arcing and burnt-out lamps—we use standardized connectors for a tight, secure fit. We’ve also specced the electrodes to handle the high-frequency switching your oven uses every day.
One Small Catch
Here’s the thing: these lamps pack a massive punch of heat. That’s great for high-speed lines, but it’s tough on your reflectors. If your reflectors are pitted or oxidized, you’re throwing away a huge chunk of that heat. To actually get the speed we’re talking about, you’ve got to keep those surfaces polished. If they’re dirty, the lamp has to work overtime to compensate. And when a lamp works too hard, the filament doesn’t last nearly as long. Keep them clean, and your lamps will stay happy.
