
Getting the Heat Right for Husky HyPET Systems
When you’re running high-speed PET blowing, just cranking up the heat isn’t enough. If the heat only hits the surface, you end up with a “cold core.” That’s a nightmare because it leads to uneven walls in your bottles, and nobody wants to deal with that. We build our IR lamps to actually get inside the plastic.
The trick to deep penetration
It all comes down to the quartz filament. We mess around with the halogen gas pressure and the way the filament is shaped to make sure the energy hits the exact spot where PET resin absorbs it. Instead of the heat bouncing off the surface, it punches right through. The result? Your preform heats up evenly from the outside in.
Built for the grind
These are drop-in replacements for Husky footprints. We use high-purity quartz because these things take a beating with the constant thermal shock of rapid cycling. Now, we push the wattage high to keep your throughput where it needs to be. But there’s a catch. When you’ve got that much heat density, your oven’s airflow and cooling have to be spot-on. If they aren’t, you’re just asking for the lamps to burn out early.
Keeping things reliable
We use standard connectors, so you can swap them out fast during a changeover without fighting the hardware. We also make sure the seals are tight. If a seal leaks, contaminants get into the halogen cycle, the filament oxidizes, and—pop—there goes your lamp. Here’s another thing: we test every single batch for consistency. If you’re replacing just one lamp in a bank, it has to match the others perfectly. If one runs hotter than the rest, you’ll start seeing streaks in your preforms. We keep the tolerances tight so your heating stays flat across the whole oven. Simple as that.
