If you’re constantly swapping out heating lamps on your SIG Blomax line, you know how frustrating it is. You’re not alone. Most of the time, it comes down to the same two culprits: structural fatigue or thermal shock. Standard PETC lamps just aren’t built for the chaos of high-speed blowing machines. Why they keep breaking
Here is the thing about heating PET preforms: you need an incredible amount of short-wave infrared energy to hit that glass transition temperature without melting the outer skin. That means cramming high wattage into a tiny quartz footprint. When you run these at peak voltage, the quartz expands. It puts a massive amount of strain on the ends of the lamp. We fixed this by rethinking the seal. We tweaked the quartz wall thickness and refined the electrode weld to move the stress point away from that fragile glass-to-metal seal. No more “tube snap.”
Getting them into your line
These are simple drop-in replacements. We kept the dimensions and electrical specs exactly the same as the original SIG gear, so you won’t have to mess around with your wiring. We use high-purity quartz to make sure you get the best IR transmission possible. But a quick heads-up: reinforcing the lamp doesn’t change the laws of physics. If you try to cheat the system by pushing the wattage higher than the OEM specs just to speed up your cycle, your oven is going to get hot. Really hot. Make sure your cooling fans are clean and actually working, or you’ll end up melting your sockets.
