No fluctuations. No guessing. The real deal on heat density Matching the wattage and voltage isn’t just about getting the bulb to glow. It’s about heat density. Whether you’re running a Husky or a SIPA oven, the lamp has to hit the exact wattage from one end to the other. If you’re off by even 5%, the preform just won’t hit the right temperature before it hits the blow mold. You get those annoying cold spots that ruin a batch. The hardware side of things We use high-purity quartz glass because these things take a beating with all the rapid heating and cooling. Most of these use R7s or SK15 connectors, so they just slide right in. No need to spend your afternoon rewiring the oven. We also coat the quartz to shift the infrared spectrum. This pushes the energy directly into the PET material instead of wasting it by heating up the oven walls. A bit of shop-floor honesty Using power-matched lamps will definitely drop your scrap rate. But here’s the thing: the best lamp in the world can’t fix a dirty oven. If your reflectors are pitted or oxidized, you’re fighting a losing battle. Keep them clean. If the reflectors are spotless, you’ll actually get the full output you’re paying for. One last tip before you swap them out: check your contact points for carbon buildup. A loose connection at the socket creates a hot spot, and that’s the fastest way to burn out an end cap. Clean the sockets, pop in the lamps, and get back to work.
