They’re great for instant warmth, but that intense, harsh glare is a real pain—especially if you’ve got a baby in the house or just sensitive eyes. Nobody wants to start their morning feeling blinded. We figured out a way to keep the heat but lose the glare. Dealing with the light A standard halogen filament throws out a huge range of light, including those sharp blue peaks that make it feel so blinding. To fix this, we don’t just “cover” the bulb. We use special quartz coatings and filtered glass. Think of it like sunglasses for your heater. These coatings soak up the harsh visible light while letting the infrared heat pass right through. You still feel the warmth on your skin, but the light stays soft and subtle. Smart design, not just better bulbs It’s not just about the glass, though. We also look at how much power we’re pushing through the tube. If it’s too intense, the light spectrum shifts in ways you don’t want. To help out, we tucked the lamps into recessed reflectors. This does two things: it pushes the heat exactly where you need it (downward) and hides the filament from your direct line of sight. It’s a simple move, but it makes the whole experience feel much more relaxed. The honest trade-off Here is the catch: physics is a stubborn thing. Any coating that blocks light is going to block a tiny bit of heat, too. You’re looking at about a 5-10% drop in efficiency compared to a completely clear tube. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it means you should probably bump up the wattage a notch if you want that same “toasty” feel. One last thing for the installation side—since these filtered lamps can run a bit hotter internally to keep the outside warmth consistent, make sure your housing is rated for the heat and your circuits have proper thermal cut-offs.
