
Getting the Heat Right in Your Husky HyPET System
If you’ve ever pulled a bottle off the line and seen those annoying thin spots or that weird, cloudy pearlescence, you know exactly what’s happening. The preform isn’t heating evenly. It’s a nightmare. You need the heat to soak all the way through the wall, not just sizzle the surface. That’s why we built our KRONES-compatible infrared lamps. We wanted to fix that penetration struggle specifically for Husky HyPET setups. Making the heat actually sink in Here’s the thing: to get heat deep into the PET, you can’t just blast it with raw power. You have to be smart about the spectral output. We tuned the wavelength so the energy doesn’t just bounce off the skin of the plastic. It actually digs into the thickest parts—the base and the neck—getting everything up to that glass transition temperature fast. And because these things cycle on and off constantly, we used high-purity quartz. It keeps the tubes from cracking or burning out when the thermal stress hits. No headaches during install We didn’t want you spending hours tweaking your setup. These are drop-in replacements. They fit the Husky footprint perfectly. We also beefed up the connectors to handle high-current loads, so you don’t have to worry about contact pitting. Plus, we added a special coating to the quartz envelope. It pushes the heat inward toward the preform instead of letting it leak out and bake your oven chassis. A couple of things to watch out for Now, there’s a trade-off. High penetration means high energy density. If your blow-molding machine’s ventilation is clogged or dusty, you’re going to have a problem. All that ambient heat can build up quickly, which might trip your overheat sensors or, worse, fry your wiring. Keep your airflow clear. And for the love of everything,keep your reflectors clean. Even a tiny layer of dust on the mirror kills the heat’s punch. When that happens, the temptation is to just crank up the voltage to compensate. Don’t do that. You’ll just kill the life of the lamp. When you’ve got them wired right and the mirrors are sparkling, these lamps give you the thermal kick you need for high-speed runs. You get consistent wall thickness, and you can finally stop worrying about the “look” of the bottle.
