We’re looking for the invisible stuff. When humidity gets high, the insulation can start to break down. This lowers the resistance between the live power and the chassis. If that happens, you’ve got a ground fault on your hands. A unit might look great and power on perfectly during a quick check. But after 100 hours of soaking in humidity? That’s when the truth comes out. For us, these aging tests aren’t optional. They’re the only way to sleep at night. The balancing act You might think, “Just seal it tighter!” But there’s a catch. If we make the housing completely airtight to get a better waterproof rating, we trap the heat inside. If the internal wiring can’t breathe, the solder joints can actually melt. It’s a bit of a tightrope walk. We have to balance a tight seal with just enough airflow so the unit doesn’t cook itself from the inside out. That’s why we share the actual test data. A “waterproof” sticker is just a piece of plastic. What actually matters is knowing the lamp won’t pop the second someone turns on the hot water.
